Predicting Third Generation of CM

Predicting the extent of the third generation of codling moth (CM) is based on a statistical relationship of the degree-days historically found on 1 August and at the end of the season on 1 November. We update this prediction roughly every 10 days after 15 August because the DD prediction for 1 November gets more accurate as we get closer.

NEW Model: Fruit Growth

The range of fruit sizes at harvest can now be predicted well before harvest with the new fruit growth model. The current model makes predictions for Gala, Red Delicious, and Cripps Pink.

Adult stinkbugs puncture fruit with their beaks to feed on the fruit flesh. Stinkbug damage in apples can occur beginning in mid-summer and accumulate through the harvest period when new adults move into the orchard from outside habitats.
